Belonging, being, becoming.
Our curriculum is informed by childcare specialists and current research on child development. Studies have shown that play-based learning is crucial for developing a strong foundation for lifelong learning. A rich play environment encourages the development of literacy and numeracy skills, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and social and emotional competence.
We recognize that every child is unique, and our teachers use the EYLF (see below) to tailor learning experiences that are based on your child's interests and abilities. We also encourage parents to be involved in their child's learning journey, and welcome any questions or feedback you may have.
The Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) at Glow Early Learning Centre
We are committed to providing your child with the best possible start in their early years. Our curriculum is inspired by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which is the national curriculum for early childhood education in Australia.
The EYLF recognises that every child is unique, and has their own strengths, interests and abilities. Our educators use the framework to develop learning experiences that are tailored to your child's individual needs, while also supporting their overall development and wellbeing.
The framework is based on five key learning outcomes, which include:
Children have a strong sense of identity
Children are connected with and contribute to their world
Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
Children are confident and involved learners
Children are effective communicators
We use these outcomes as a guide to plan our curriculum and assess children’s progress. We also value the importance of play-based learning, which is an essential part of the EYLF. Play allows children to explore, discover, create, imagine and problem-solve, which all contribute to their overall development.
Assessment at Glow Early Learning Centre
We use portfolio-based assessment to document children’s development over time. Our teachers regularly collect samples of children’s work and observations of their learning and progress to provide a comprehensive view of the child's strengths and areas for growth. These portfolios can provide a rich source of information for educators and families to make informed decisions about future learning opportunities and interventions.
